The
animal left on top plausibly is Caridina japonica. Even though it is a
very dark colored one. That evokes the question to what extent they are able to
adapt themselves to the environment.Caridina japonica also can be cultivated
very well. For the rest a community from West-Africa; Cameroon, Nigeria e.o. Atyopsis
gabuensis must be determinated as a trapnet shrimp, that lives on plankton
which they catch from the water with wide spread arms. Really unbelievable for
an animal that can reach at least 12 CMS in length. The color is rather variable.
There are specimen with beautiful bleu colors with |
orange bristles on the first pair of legs. With other specimen the color fires
less to the imagination. With the other animals pictured on the page one wonders,
if it all are separate specimen or weather it are stages of development of one
and the same shrimp. At the bottom in the mid such a glider shrimp I referred
to in my tekst already. On the right a shrimp 2 centimeters in total with gossamer-thin
legs. The early stages of an animal more course? More questions than can be answered,
but that makes the care for and the study of these animals so interesting for
the true aquarist |
